Between 7 September 1940 and 21 May 1941, there were major raids with more than 100 tonnes of high explosives dropped on 16 British cities. That’s less than a year!

The fact they found another bomb is not new at all, as many unexploded bombs are found every year, but this one just happened to be in such a position where it caused some disruption to an airport. Some 284 flights were cancelled at London City Airport after an unexploded WW2 bomb was discovered in the nearby River Thames.

Have a look at this map, which shows you the location of every known bomb dropped on London within the above time period, and it’s really quite impressive that anyone actually survived.
